WHAT ARE STREET CLUBS?

We engage thousands of young people (aged eight – 24) in underserved areas through our Street cricket clubs. Typically running every week, all year-round, the clubs give young people the opportunity to develop their cricket and life skills, whilst also taking part in informal matches. The clubs run after school or on weekends, they are completely free, players don’t need to bring any equipment and can wear whatever they like. The sessions run in sports halls, youth clubs, parks, places of worship and community centres. Most clubs are open to all genders, but in some locations, we run girls only sessions. Young people are given ownership of sessions so each club looks different – whether they want to progress their skills, or just want to have a fun time with their friends, our coaches will look to accommodate it, no matter the age or ability

STREET20 AND COMPETITION

Our Street cricketers play a format of the game called Street20. Played with a tape ball and plastic bats, matches are only 20 balls a side. All SCDFI Street clubs take part in local competitions against other nearby clubs in the school holidays, ahead of taking part in the Regional Street20 finals as they vie for a spot in the National finals in the Open (U13, U15, U24) or Girls competitions. It’s our opportunity to give young people the chance to visit somewhere new, play against teams from different places, feel what it really means to be part of a team and put their skills into practice. LIFE AFTER STREET

For many Street cricketers, joining a traditional cricket club isn’t possible due to financial or geographical barriers. We know that some of them are incredibly talented so where possible, we signpost them to their local cricket club so they can continue playing. We are also working in partnership with County Cricket Clubs to ensure that the most talented cricketers get noticed and have access to development programmes and pathways. However, its not just about cricket. Our coaches act as mentors for young people teaching vital life skills including leadership, teamwork, communication and problem solving. Young people who show leadership potential are encouraged to train as coaches.

WHAT WE ACHIEVE

Since 2024 we have delivered cricket to nearly two thousand young people across Tamilnadu, We’re proud of our scale, but equally passionate about the impact our programmes have on children across the state,

OUR SCALE

Our scale is large; we target to support around 600,000 young people each year. Whilst we are proud of this, it is our impact on young people that is paramount
